Much of my artistic inspiration comes from the natural world, as it has for many artists before me. I find inspiration can come from anywhere; a quality of light, the cast of a shadow, a rippling reflection, a colour combination, to name but a few examples. I work primarily in acrylic paint to preserve a moment of natural wonder, whether a picturesque vista, the infinite complexity of a flower, or the peculiarity of a bird. Although acrylic is the medium I am most comfortable with, I also work in oil paint, ink, coloured pencil, and graphite depending on what suits a piece best. To date much of my work has been closer to realism than any other style but I look forward to more experimentation in future.
