St. Lawrence Series n°3

Part of a collection inspired by time spent at a family cottage on the St. Lawrence River in Québec.  The photograph this painting is based on was taken at the tail end of a sunset when the angle of the sun illuminated the lower clouds in such a way that they looked like glowing embers.  Although most of the is done in acrylic I used thicker dabs of magenta oil paint to add intensity to the lower clouds.

Painted on archival quality, acid-free heavy duty paper designed for use with acrylic or oil paints.

Painted with high quality acrylic paint and highlights using water mixable oil paint.

Sprayed with UV protecting varnish.  Although I treat all my work with a UV protecting spray, hanging artwork where it gets direct sunlight for a prolonged time can result in sun damage over time.  Please be aware of this when deciding where to hang your artwork.

This painting does not come ready to hang.  It will require framing.

I typically work by applying paint in thin layers.  This can make my work more delicate than some.  Please use caution when handling original artwork to prevent damage.
