My painting Northern Ontario Rocks no. 2 is part of a new series I’ve been working on this year that is inspired both by the beauty of Northern Ontario and techniques learned from working for Rockscapes of Canada. Starting in 2024 I had the opportunity to work with the family owned, Guelph based business Rockscapes of Canada. They specialize in making artificial rocks from concrete. I was hired to paint the rocks to look realistic. The largest project I’ve worked on with them is the London Children’s Museum. I’ve applied techniques learned from that experience to canvas.
There is no shortage of beautiful rock formations to inspire in northern Ontario. The works of Ed Bartram are also a large inspiration for this series. The wispy edges of the sky are done to embrace the abstract in the realism.
Prints will require framing in order to be hung on a wall.
Prints are made to order and produced by a local independent business. As such there may be a delay in shipping.
