Downy Woodpecker

Downy woodpeckers are the most common woodpecker in my region.  The males have a distinctive bright red patch on the back of their head.  During mating season they can be heard drumming on tree trunks to mark their territory.

Created with ink and coloured pencils on a thick sketching paper.

Sprayed with UV protecting varnish.  Although I treat all my work with a UV protecting spray, hanging artwork where it gets direct sunlight for a prolonged time can result in sun damage over time.  Please be aware of this when deciding where to hang your artwork.

This artwork will require framing to be hung on a wall.
