Lavender Flowers

Inspired by a photograph taken by my father of a lavender flower in bloom.  Lavender flowers are small, easily overlooked, but each stalk has so many perfect little flowers waiting to be admired.   I was also struck by the photographic contrast between in the sharp in focus details of each flower and bud with the softly blurred flowers in the background.

Painted on a wrapped, heavy duty canvas with wooden frame.

Painted with high quality acrylic paint.

Sprayed with UV protecting varnish.  Although I treat all my work with a UV protecting spray, hanging artwork where it gets direct sunlight for a prolonged time can result in sun damage over time.  Please be aware of this when deciding where to hang your artwork.

The painting’s edges are covered in copper tape for a finished appearance.

Sawtooth self-leveling hanger affixed to back of canvas frame for ready hanging.

I typically work by applying paint in thin layers.  This can make my work more delicate than some.  Please use caution when handling original artwork to prevent damage.
