Mallard Ducks n°5

When looking for reference images for this avian portraits series I wanted bird species that have some bright colouring in their plumage.  Although mallard ducks are often overlooked as such a common species, they do have quite striking colouring, especially the males.  The bright orange feet, yellow bill and iridescent green head make them the perfect artistic subjects.  I also enjoyed the water reflection in this particular image.  Read more about this series on the about page.

Created with ink and coloured pencils on a thick sketching paper.

Sprayed with UV protecting spray.  Although I treat all my work with a UV protecting spray, hanging artwork where it gets direct sunlight for a prolonged time can result in sun damage over time.  Please be aware of this when deciding where to hang your artwork.

This artwork will require framing to be hung on a wall.
