White Roses n°1

This is the first in a small series of wild white rose, Rosa alba, paintings.  This one is a little different as it focuses more of the flowers whereas the rest of the series the focus shifts more to the leaves.  I particularly like the composition of this painting, how none of the flowers are fully in frame.  Each tiny, delicate stamen is made three dimensional by add their shadows on the petals.

Painted on a wrapped, heavy duty canvas with wooden frame.

Painted with high quality acrylic paint.

Sprayed with UV protecting varnish.  Although I treat all my work with a UV protecting spray, hanging artwork where it gets direct sunlight for a prolonged time can result in sun damage over time.  Please be aware of this when deciding where to hang your artwork.

The sides of the painting are covered with copper tape for a finished appearance.

I typically work by applying paint in thin layers.  This can make my work more delicate than some.  Please use caution when handling original artwork to prevent damage.
