Loons & Rocks – print

This painting was done to for a show that celebrates the beauty of Northern Ontario.  I used two different reference photos to create the image in this artwork.  The loons and lower rocks came from a photo I took on Westlemkoon Lake north of Belleville.  The upper part of the painting is based on a photo my brother took while doing field work near Bon Echo Provincial Park.  I love the contrast of the dramatic rock face and the gracefully paddling loons.  I was also struck by the pops of colour throughout the rockface, provided by bright orange lichens and green vegetation.

Prints will require framing in order to be hung on a wall.
